The Louveira Manufacturing Plant
produces a diversity of personal care and beauty products,
including diapers and shampoo. The plant is located
outside the town of Louveira in São Paulo State but close to a
small village.

Scope
of Work:
To assist Proctor & Gamble respond to noise complaints from
residents of a nearby village located just outside the town of
Louveira, and to successfully meet legal requirements, ATCO
was contracted to undertake three separate activities:
- Implement two acoustical surveys;
- Design preliminary noise mitigation solutions, designed to
meet a legal compliance level of 50 dB(A) in the nearby
residential area;
- Provide budget pricing
The
project was completed within a four-month time period between
November 2003 and February 2004.

Noise
Sources:
Through its
acousticalal surveys, ATCO identified a variety of noise
sources, including nine process fans, six air compressors,
four cooling towers and the building's ventilation systems.
Performance Targets:
The plant is located near a
small village outside the town of Louveira, and is in close
proximity to a motel, located approximately 545 feet (166
meters) away. The legal compliance level of 50 dB(A) was
chosen as the target at the site of the motel.
Silencing Solutions:
ATCO designed, supplied and
installed its proprietary acoustical assemblies for the walls,
roof, acoustical doors, silencers and barrier walls.
