Acoustical Retrofit

A specialty expertise of ATCO Noise Management is the acoustical retrofit of existing facilities. It is our experience that noise becomes a community issue when industrial sites expand or old machinery and equipment are replaced with newer, upgraded systems.

For our clients who require acoustical retrofit services, our construction engineers and noise consultants first conduct a site noise survey that includes:

• noise level analysis at the nearest sensitive receivers,
• source noise levels,
• source heat loads,
• structural and mechanical adequacy, and
• operational requirements, including downtime and maintenance.

The site noise survey supplies the acoustical and facility information used to design the acoustical retrofit solution. Solutions can involve:

• installation of the acoustical building envelope
• installation of silencing equipment (silencers, acoustically lined louvers, etc.)
• modification to the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system, and
• redesign of the structural framing and exterior finishes.
