Acoustical
Barriers
ATCO
Noise Management supplies acoustical barriers to absorb noise from
individual equipment located inside or outside industrial facilities,
or along transportation corridors. Our barriers are free standing
single walls or two- to four-sided structures custom-designed from
the Noise Management™ portfolio of proprietary acoustical assemblies.
The
acoustical properties of our barriers are based on the principal of
absorption and deflection of the sound energy. Acoustical materials
absorb sound arriving at the face of the barrier. After passing
through a layer or layers of these absorptive materials, sound energy
is then blocked by special sound "barrier" materials to prevent it from
traveling through the structure and out into the environment.
Applications
Acoustical barriers
or partial acoustical enclosures are economical noise reducers. ATCO Noise
Management has designed barriers to reduce:
- Noise
from railways, light rail transit, roadways, and construction sites
- Equipment
noise inside or outside of buildings and structures
We
have also constructed noise abatement barriers when open-air cooling of equipment
or machinery is necessary and when space is at a premium.
High
Level of Noise Reduction
An acoustical barrier functions by absorbing a large amount of sound and/or
deflecting it away from the sound source. For best results, acoustical barriers
need to be highly absorptive as well as have high transmission loss.
Transmission Loss (TL) is the amount of noise lost when sound passes
through an acoustical wall or barrier. acoustical barriers made from a combination of sound-absorbing
and sound-blocking materials yield best noise attenuation results.

Heavy
Duty, Industrial Grade
Designed to withstand severe, corrosive environments, our acoustical barriers
may be made from a heavy duty steel panel finished with a durable,
pre-painted and baked-on enamel, or aluminum surface.
Visually
Appealing
Architectural details can be incorporated into our acoustical barrier designs
to make them visually appealing. Baked-on enamel paint in a color
of your choice finishes the protective metal surface.
