ATCO Noise Management is awarded a contract at the world's largest nitrogen production complex
Tuesday, February 23, 1999

Calgary, Alberta – John Barrett, President of ATCO Noise Management Ltd., announced today that his company has been awarded a contract by ICA/Fluor Daniel, México D.F., for the design, supply and installation of the acoustic treatment for the compressor building located at the Cantarell Nitrogen Project in Campeche, Mexico.

Acoustic treatment is needed to quiet four engines and four steam turbines to be housed in what will become the complex's largest building (610' long x 105' wide x 84' high). To achieve the building's directional acoustic targets, ATCO will use four different systems from its line of proprietary acoustic assemblies. ATCO will also design and supply fans and ventilation silencers to accommodate the required air flow of 1,100,000 cfm (cubic feet per minute). The selection of the assemblies was integrated with the acoustic treatment for the extensive ventilation system to yield the most cost-effective noise control package. The building's exterior will have special factory baked-on paint to provide long life in the tropical environment.

The nitrogen complex is owned and operated by the Cantarell Nitrogen Company (CNC). Linde AG and ICA/Fluor Daniel are the EPC contractors for the project. When the complex is completed, nitrogen is to be delivered via pipeline to Mexico's Cantarell oil field in the Gulf of Mexico, where it will be injected into the oil reservoirs of Pemex.

"ATCO is very pleased to be selected as acoustic supplier for the Cantarell Nitrogen Project," said John Barrett. "We believe that, together with a competitive proposal, ATCO's unique experience in the design and installation of noise control systems for large industrial sites was a deciding factor in the award of the contract."

ATCO provides guaranteed noise management & trade; for gas manufacturing facilities, power plants, gas compressor stations, and other noisy industrial facilities. ATCO is ISO 9001 certified. The ISO 9001 quality assurance standard applies to the design, procurement, construction and post-construction testing of acoustic buildings and enclosures as well as the acoustic retrofit of existing facilities.
